Preparation is key when it comes to your costly project materials. Rather than jumping in headfirst without a second thought and wasting your resources, you take the time to plan how best to use your materials like a blueprint or stencil. Creating a pattern of what you need for fabric or raw materials, is just one way to ensure that you’re using what you have wisely.
Not only does using patterning material help you save on wasted materials, but it can even make your projects simpler. Dura-Skrim® patterning material is your best tool for creating a stencil. Learn more about Dura-Skrim®, why it’s great for pattern making, and what projects it’s typically used for.
What is Dura-Skrim® Patterning Material?
Dura-Skrim® is plastic sheeting with a high-strength polyethylene film reinforced with a layer of polyester scrim to prevent ripping and tearing. This heavy-duty, lightweight construction and agricultural film can be used in both indoor and temporary outdoor applications.
It is available in black, clear, white, and white/black. Its carbon black and UV stabilizers increase longevity for short to mid-term outdoor cover applications that require minimal heat buildup. Not only is this plastic sheeting good for outdoor use, but you can also use it for patterning material.
Why is Dura-Skrim® Great for Pattern Making?
Dura-Skrim®’s reinforced and high-strength material prevents it from ripping, making it the best option for pattern making on a multitude of applications. First and foremost, patterning material must be durable and resistant to tearing because when you create a stencil for a pattern it must hold its shape for the project materials. Otherwise, the stencil would be inaccurate and fail to keep its shape. That’s why Dura-Skrim® patterning material is the solution for your needs.
Dura-Skrim® Patterning Material Use
What pattern projects can Dura-Skrim® be used for? You can use Dura-Skrim® for projects like sizing door panels, measuring sprayhoods for sailboats, creating large patterns for a Dodger or Bimini on a boat, and can even be used for seat re-upholstery. Its high-strength material also makes Dura-Skrim® a good option for creating patterns on sheet metal work, such as patch panels.
